TME: EPISODE TWO: ANGIE’S CHAIR

ANGIE’S CHAIR

Angie’s Chair is a short but pivotal episode of The Maxx Experience, following Angie through an encounter with the unexplained, preparation for another night of violence, work, and an intimate visit with Kym Kassette.

The episode opens with an unsettling appearance from Morrhgan the Banshee through Angie’s mirror, accompanied by fragmented sounds and memories that are never fully explained within The Maxx Experience.

From there, the episode becomes unusually intimate. Angie appears without her familiar paint before slowly transforming herself in the mirror. Each stroke strips away the softer version of herself as she prepares to become something colder.

The night continues through violence, an inconvenient workday, and eventually a visit with Kym Kassette, where the two share a quieter conversation about love before returning to considerably darker forms of entertainment.

Archive Notes

Despite being one of the shortest episodes of The Maxx Experience, Angie’s Chair contains several moments that would become signatures of Angie Maxx and the larger X-Hale universe.

This episode establishes the increasingly ritualistic nature of Angie’s face paint, including an early transition from oil-based to water-based body paint that would influence its evolving appearance.

It also establishes Angie’s recurring chair perspective, develops her friendship with Kym Kassette on screen, and continues another emerging pattern: Angie may be exceptionally effective at what she does, but she is not necessarily easy to work with.

Several ideas introduced here would continue evolving long after the episode ended.

Chronicle readers may want to pay particularly close attention.
